My first journal entry in more than a year.

If you've been following my posts then you have the patience of water. You should see my twitter feed. One year in and maybe six or seven posts. Excelsior!

Anyhow, in the time we last spoke I've released a short film called

Nullarbor

named for an expansive Australian desert, wherein the film is set. Be sure to spell it correctly- it sounds like an Aboriginal word, but it's actually Latin- null (none) arbor (trees). See what they did there?

It's screened at more than a hundred festivals worldwide, and taken 16 international awards, including the Grand Prix at the UK's Bradford Animation Festival, and the 2012 AACTA Award (the Aussie Oscar- the Ozcar, if you will) for Best Animated Short. It's also screened throughout the US and Canada with the 2011 Oscar-nominated short animations. Objectively, all definitive proof that I am awesome. Glad you agree. There are reviews, but you don't need to see those. Awards. So there.

So it's available on iTunes. If you love me like you say you do, then you'll buy it. That's not just emotional blackmail, it's fact. Is too.

Also, moved to Sydney. If you live here, maybe I'll see you around.

Over the coming weeks I'll be posting pieces rarely seen anywhere- artworks I did for a promising and ill-fated project called 'Warlords, The Trading Card Game'. Based on the strategy game franchise for the PC, it was to rival 'Magic: The Gathering', and make yours truly a star. Well, I assumed so anyway; when you're young, you always do.

Alas, due to a catastrophic error in production of the cards (which would be foolish, and possibly legally actionable to recount), the game never saw wide release, and consequently never found an audience. A real shame, because it was one hell of a good game.

All of the works are acrylic gouache on art board. When these were done, I didn't even own a computer.

Yeeeessss... It was the dark age of the 20th century, when Star Wars was still good, furries didn't exist, and CGI was the domain of wealthy hollywood artisans- well beyond the reach of the average house-bound schmo.

I had a blast doing these, it's about time somebody actually saw them.

Hang on to your dreams- even when they drag you through shit n' broken glass-

hang the fuck on.

What the hell does that mean?

Well, our brothers and sisters in the US are experiencing something of a financial lull, while here in Australia, the sunniest desert island in the world, our own fortunes are experiencing an extended period of awesomeness, due largely to profits cut from the red, red dirt out there in the deserts of Western Australia, where men are men and women are scantily clad and well-paid.

And?

And, what with the US dollar and Australian dollar reaching 'parity' (equal value in international money markets) it's now no longer a bargain for a games publisher to farm your projects out to countries such as ours where the money is cheap and the talent is frugal and powerless.

So? Make a point you freckly twat.

So I've lost my job.

Oh. Wow.

Hey! Don't cry for me, fans of dragons n' boobies! I will still be available to rock your little world with artworks that you wouldn't otherwise have seen had you not visited this page, or some other page where the same artwork is also posted. While you're here, why not cast your eye over this startling image, entitled: 'King vs King'? I mean seriously, why the hell not?

Smile if your beard smells funny,

Hey! Been redirected from www.alisterlockhart.com? Fear not, this will all make sense in time... feel free to browse while our team of net elves construct a web experience the like of which you've never seen. No seriously.

Just spent the day with Koz and the good folks of DECAY at the Armageddon Comic Con in Melbourne, did some sketching, met some good folk. Here's a taster of the story, written and illustrated by myself for issue #5 (cover opposite- tasty no?)- couple more pages in the gallery. Also up is the thrilling conclusion to 'Abel'.

mercy is for the weekend...
